There is a Dress Down Day that will cost a $1.00 this Wednesday. The children are to choose a "color of cancer ribbon" from the posters around the school, and wear that color of shirt. The colors are pink, light blue, purple, yellow, orange, gray or red.
Thursday night is our Reconciliation and Communion meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Thank you to the many parents who helped this afternoon with First and Second Grade for our class trip. It was wonderful and the children were so well behaved, we are all very proud of them!

Please be aware of the change about our field trip on Thursday. The form states the children are allowed to bring money for the souvenir shop, however, we are going to change that. The children are NOT to bring any money. We would like to focus our trip on enjoying and learning from the Franklin Institute, instead of what could be bought at the souvenir shop. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. Please send in any candy donations for the troops Monday and Tuesday!

HomeworkMath - do lesson 3.3, pages 179 and 180 Make a ten by breaking apart the smaller addend. We did many problems like this and completed the first two on their homework page together. Please indicate on their homework if they struggled. It's a hard concept but a good strategy to learn (we do it automatically without thinking!)
We are not starting a new Reading/Spelling lesson because of the short week.
Grammar - complete page 22 only on the Grammar sheet that came home in their purple folders; identifying and using nouns

Please be sure your child has the necessary items in their pencil bag as well as their art box. Pencil bag - two or three sharpened No. 2 pencils, a pink eraser and two red pencils. The art box should have their crayons, colored pencils, scissors and their glue stick.

We were invited to "trick or treat" with the upper grades courtesy of the Student Council! The children were thrilled and have a small orange bag in their backpacks! I hope you enjoyed the ghosts!
We are going on a field trip with First Grade, on Thursday, November 12th to the Franklin Institute. The permission slip came home in their Communication folders today and on the link below is the Chaperon form which needs to be downloaded and printed if you are interested in being one for the trip. ELA- the spelling, high frequency and robust vocabulary are still on line from last week. There will not be a new spelling test but there will be a comprehension reading test on the last story, Neighborhood News, which we will review this week.
Tomorrow is the last day for Chicken Nugget orders.Wednesday is a dress down day; Fall colors is the theme. When in doubt, do not wear it!
There is no school for the children on Friday as that is the second day of conferences!

Face to Face Lunches will be collected this Friday. One lunch per family; the oldest or the only child in the family donates a healthy lunch. A brown paper bag will come home in this Wednesday's Communication Folder. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
BAPTISM PHOTO! We will begin a new chapter in Religion and will be discussing our baptisms! I am asking for a small photo of your child on their baptism day. (these will be returned) I make a poster out of them and we use that to discuss the many signs of baptism (white clothing, candles, godparents, etc.) These photos can be sent in as soon as you locate one! If you do not have one from their baptism, perhaps a photo of your child at about that age would suffice. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

October is Fire Safety month. We had a fire drill yesterday and Flourtown Fire Company came and spoke with the children about safety tips, a plan to leave their house in case of a fire and where to meet, etc. Please talk with your children about your own safety plan for your home and please check your fire alarm batteries!
